The Inside Scoop with Luna for September 2025

As overheard from my basket beside Vanessa Benedict, Wealth Advisor & Portfolio Manager

From my basket, I watched as three grown kids sat across from their parents. Their voices overlapped, quick and full of worry about what would happen now that their mom wasn’t well. What they didn’t know was that their parents had already made thoughtful plans and just hadn’t shared them yet.

To me, it didn’t sound like worry about money. It sounded like fear of losing the mom who’d always been there for them. And when the plans finally came out into the open, the talking over each other stopped. The room went from buzzing with tension to something calmer, like everyone could breathe again.

They talked about what mattered most to them, how they wanted things handled, and who could help when the time came. Heavy topics, but saying them out loud seemed to make them lighter.

It made me wonder how many families wait until a crisis to have those talks. From where I sit, the hardest part isn’t making arrangements, it’s finding the courage to start the conversation.
