The Inside Scoop with Luna for December 2025
As overheard from my basket beside Vanessa Benedict, Wealth Advisor & Portfolio Manager
From my basket, I listened as Vanessa and a client talked about the Lakeridge Health 50th Gala they both attended. Their voices weren’t excited about fancy dresses or big speeches just the meaning behind the night. The client said how beautiful the gala was, especially since it marked 50 years of supporting local healthcare. Vanessa agreed, but then shared something the client didn’t know.
Her father spent more than 45 years as a doctor at Lakeridge Health and now in his honour sits on the board of the Foundation. The hospital wasn’t just part of the community it was part of her family. She told the client how her parents always said that when a community gives to you, you give back. Hearing that made the room feel quiet in a comforting way, like everyone understood.
They talked about how the 50th Gala brought almost 500 people together neighbours, business owners, families all wanting to help. There was laughter, music, and a wonderful host who kept the room smiling. But the heart of the evening wasn’t the entertainment, it was what the support will mean for patients and families who need care close to home.
Listening from my basket, it reminded me that giving back does not have to be loud to matter. Sometimes it is just showing up, helping where you can, and just remembering the people who cared for you.
